Students in School of Public Health and Health Professions Receive Awards

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Thirty-seven new graduates of the School of Public Health and Health Professions at the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ were honored with scholarships and awards during the school's recent commencement ceremony.

The ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ is a premier research-intensive public university, the largest and most comprehensive campus in the State ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ of New York system. UB's more than 27,000 students pursue their academic interests through more than 300 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs.

The award recipients are:

• Justin Moyer of Belfast, the Alfred T. Caffiero Scholarship Award

• Julie Baker of Buffalo, the 2004 ASAHP Scholarship of Excellence Award

• Su Zhan of Getzville, the Mark Diamond research Award

• Lauren Byrne of Greenville, the Alfred T. Caffiero Scholarship Award

• Antonio Santo of Liverpool, the Carlton R. Meyers Award, recognizing an outstanding student from the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences

• Gretchen Dexheimer of North Tonawanda, the Alfred T. Caffiero Scholarship Award

• Christina DeSantis of Port Crane, Outstanding Senior Award in Exercise and Nutrition Sciences

• Bethany Gilbert of Springville, UB Environmental and Society Institute Lester Milbrath Interdisciplinary Fellowship

• Heather Ochs-Balcom of Townsville, S.C., the UB Environmental and Society Institute Fellowship

The following students received Annette Rachman Scholarships recognizing students who maintained at least a "B" average studying in the field of nutrition and dietetics:
